Hello, international readers!
This is Minako from HR.
Have you heard the words of "Tori-no-ichi"?
First of all, let me introduce about it.
It is a traditional annual event which is held in every November and is similar to Thanksgiving is celebrated especially in the U.S.
Tori-no-Ichi means "Rooster Market," on the two or three Days of the Rooster that happen that month according to the old Chinese-based zodiac calendar (jikkan junishi 十干十二支). This year-end festival also known as oh-tori-no-machi and otori-sama takes place at about 30 shrines named "Otori," primarily in the Tokyo region.
Well, on that day, people visit the shrine to pray for health, fortune, and wealth.
A speciality of Tori-no-Ichi is ‘bamboo rake’, in Japanese, “Kumade”
This is a photo of decorated Kumade.
Kumade is believed to bring happiness and prosperity in business.
Therefore, we visit Tori-no-Ichi every year!
This year we chose Kumade that the seven lucky gods are on it.
Also, people believe if you get a bigger Kumade every year, it brings better luck and more happiness.
I am surprised and glad at Kumade that is getting bigger with the company year by year;
In Japan, the number of infected people is getting decreased.
But still, we need to care for the virus, we hope our luck will be came true and the pandemic will be settled all over the world...
After this pandemic end, why don’t you come and visit this festival :)
See you next time!!
